How We Research
This library covers compounds that are widely discussed and thinly evidenced. These are the rules that govern what it will and will not say about them.
Our standards
We separate approval from availability
An advisory committee discussing a compound is not the FDA approving it. A compound being sold online is not evidence that selling it is lawful. Every regulatory statement here names the agency, the document and the date it was checked.
We do not publish access instructions
No dosing, routes, reconstitution, sourcing or administration protocols for investigational compounds — including where a reader might obtain them. Route and formulation materially change risk, and this is a publication, not a clinician.
We date everything and re-check it
Every article shows when a human last verified its claims and its regulatory position. A regulatory page without a date is worse than no page, because it reads as current when it may not be.
We label the strength of evidence, not just its existence
A cited study is not the same as a settled question. Where the human evidence is missing, the article says so in the same place it describes what people hope the compound does.
Sponsorship never buys editorial outcomes
No sponsor selects our citations, writes or reviews our conclusions, changes a review date, or alters an organic position in the provider directory. Paid placements are labelled before the claim and their links carry rel="sponsored".
How we label evidence
- Established clinical evidence
- Randomised human trials, replicated, with the compound approved for the use described.
- Early human research
- Human studies exist but are small, unreplicated, non-U.S., or measure a surrogate rather than an outcome.
- Preclinical
- Animal or laboratory work only. No human evidence of benefit for the use discussed.
- Mechanistic or theoretical
- A proposed biological explanation with no study testing whether it produces the claimed effect.
